Currently the Poet Laureate of New Bedford, Massachusetts, and the creator of the Octologue,
an 8-line syllabic form of poetry, award winning poet Patricia Gomes has been published in countless literary journals and anthologies, both in print and electronically. She is the author of four chapbooks and performs her work extensively throughout the New England area.
Ms. Gomes is a member of the Massachusetts State Poetry Society, Bartelby Scrivener Poetry Group, the New England Horror Writers Association, and the Sci-Fi Poetry Association. She is a co-founder of the GNB Writers’ Block, hosting bi-monthly poetry venues and workshops in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
A 2008 Pushcart Prize nominee and the former editor of Adagio Verse Quarterly, Ms. Gomes was the 2010 recipient of the Dave L. Osgood Poetry Award. Until March 2011, she was the on-line poetry moderator of iVillage’s (ivillage.com, a division of NBC) Poets Workshop. In 2015, she was a panelist at the Massachusetts Poetry Festival discussing the role modern poetry plays in urban communities.
